Gibson Peghead

The Golden Era of the Gibson Thinlines

This is a quite rare ES-335TDN in natural finish. The Shipping Totals show on 71 naturals in 1959. Only 209 total from 1958–1960, when the color was replaced with Cherry.

This particular example also has a heel stinger, which is exceedingly rare. Gibson occasionally used stingers on natural finishes to hide some sort of cosmetic flaw in the wood, sometimes on heels and sometimes on the back of pegheads.

A very light example at 7lbs. 8oz.

This instrument also has a rare double white pickup in the bridge and a zebra pickup in the neck. These versions of the PAF occurred almost exclusively in 1959.

This guitar is from my own collection.
