Gibson Peghead

The Golden Era of the Gibson Thinlines

Here is a great-looking ES-345 from Christian in Germany. Thanks, Christian.

"Bought in 1981 in Düsseldorf, Germany and played professionally since then. The rear pickup-cover has been replaced at one point, both pickups are original PAT-number's.The Varitone circuit has been bypassed and about 10 years ago it was refretted in Amsterdam. It's been almost all over Europe !

The sound... with the front pickup I can get the sweetest, greasiest and naturally compressed clean lead tone, perfect for blues, soul, jazz; when played with my newly acquired Zendrive pedal into a clean amp or through my Fuchs or Princeton amp in overdrive it is almost too fat at times so I dial in only mild overdrive. The rear pickup is a little weaker in output but gets that wonderfully nasal lead tone, great for westcoast or country sounds. so for clean and semi-dirty tones this is as good as it gets for me!

I want a second one..."
